2012, ZAGREB

Where it began

In 2012, Adis Jugo, Nenad Trajkovski and Toni Frankola set out to build a serious technology conference for the Adriatic region, with a programme and speaker line-up that could stand comparison with events elsewhere in Europe.

That became SPC Adriatics: a one-day event in Zagreb with local experts and a small group of international speakers. The first edition made it clear there was room to build further.

THE TIMELINE

From Zagreb to Sarajevo

Five stages in the same story, with a broader reach over time.

  1. 2012, SPC Adriatics

A one-day event in Zagreb, with local experts, a few international speakers, and enough interest to make a second edition the obvious next step.

  2. 2016, forty-four speakers in Zagreb

SPC Adriatics reached full scale in Zagreb: 44 speakers, including 36 Microsoft MVPs and 7 Microsoft Certified Masters. 500 attendees also travelled in from outside the region.

  3. 2017, it becomes the European Collaboration Summit

The event had outgrown its original scope. It was renamed, held once more in Zagreb with 700 attendees, and then moved to Germany to serve a broader European audience.

  4. Today, the largest Microsoft partner event in Europe

ECS now runs in Germany with more than 3,000 attendees each year. It grew into a much larger event without losing its community basis.

  5. 2027, back in the region

Adriatic Tech Summit brings that experience back to the region: Sarajevo, Hotel Hills, 5 to 7 April 2027, with the same expectations for content and delivery.

WHY SARAJEVO

Why Sarajevo

A practical choice for the event and for the people coming to it.

A stronger regional base

The Adriatic tech scene has matured. The companies, teams and technical work here are fully strong enough to support a conference of this level.

Easy to reach

Hotel Hills is close to Sarajevo International Airport, with direct connections to major European hubs. Travel is straightforward and the venue is nearby.

A good host city

Sarajevo is practical for travel and worth spending time in. That makes it easier to turn the trip into more than a quick in-and-out visit.

A realistic option for teams

For many regional companies, travelling to larger events in Western Europe means higher cost and more time away from work. Sarajevo makes participation easier, and pricing is set with the region in mind.

WHAT CHANGED

The focus changed

SPC Adriatics began as a SharePoint and Project conference. A 2027 programme needs to reflect where Microsoft platforms, security, compliance and AI work now sit.

Copilot and agents are now core topics

Microsoft is now placing Copilot and agents at the centre of its platform direction, including deployment, governance and practical use inside everyday tools. The programme follows that reality.

Security remains part of the same discussion

When an agent can act inside a tenant, identity, permissions and governance are part of the same issue. Security content is built into that wider discussion.

Older product stories are not the agenda

The programme is not built around product lines that have already been retired or overtaken. The focus is on what matters now and what teams will be working with next.

WHAT WE KEPT

What stayed the same

The speaker standard

The team behind the European Collaboration Summit is shaping this programme as well. Sessions are expected to meet the same standard.

The production

The same team is responsible for rooms, sound, recording and keeping the programme on time. The operational standard is the same.

Community first

It began as a community event and still works that way. Speakers are selected for substance, sponsors are part of the event, and pricing is set to keep the summit accessible across the region.
